From Paying the Bills to Shaping My Cinematic Eye (2013–2018)

A Journey Through Real, Unscripted Moments

I’ve always been drawn to cinematography—it’s why I went to film school and where my true passion lies. Between 2013 and 2018, however, wedding photography became an unexpected part of my journey. My photojournalism background blended naturally with capturing authentic, unscripted moments, and what started as a way to pay the bills quickly turned into a thriving venture through Curious Otter Studios, allowing my wife and me to purchase a home and support our family. The shift from raw news coverage to intimate celebrations taught me the power of genuine emotion and underscored how every frame can hold deep meaning. Although I’ve since moved on to larger commercial and cinematic projects, the lessons learned from weddings continue to inform my work, reminding me that authenticity and storytelling lie at the heart of every powerful image.
