Industrial Grace:
A Ballet Film in a 20,000
Square-Foot Warehouse

Where Ballet Meets Cinematic Power

Set in a 20,000-square-foot vacant warehouse, Industrial Grace is a visually striking ballet film that blends the elegance of classical dance with the raw, industrial aesthetic of its environment. Featuring San Francisco Ballet dancer Sasha De Sola, the project explores the contrast between grace and grit, using the vast, empty space to heighten the drama and emotion of the performance. With light, movement, and shadow at play, Industrial Grace captures the fusion of raw power and delicate precision in an immersive, cinematic experience.

To bring this vision to life, we used two cherry pickers to rig an 8x8 diffusion and a 1200W soft light directly above the dance floor, creating a soft, ethereal glow. Surrounding the space, six Aputure lights (1200W, 600W, and 300W) were strategically placed to illuminate the haze and generate cinematic flares through anamorphic lenses. A Steadicam operator danced with Sasha, following her movements to create a fluid, immersive perspective, blending dynamic motion with breathtaking lighting design. The result is a visually rich, emotionally resonant dance film that transforms an industrial void into a stage of grace and artistry.
