Meet Alex Lopez, a producer and filmmaker based in Oakland, California. For more than a decade, he has made commercials, documentaries, executive interviews, product stories, and technical videos.
Alex studied at Brooks Institute of Photography in Southern California. He started out working in camera departments and photographing film and television productions in Los Angeles. A job with Valhalla Entertainment eventually brought him back to the Bay Area, where he spent several years working as a photojournalist. His photographs have appeared in The New York Times, the San Francisco Chronicle, and the Oakland Tribune.
That photojournalism background still shapes the way Alex works. It taught him how to enter an unfamiliar situation, notice what matters, and earn people’s trust without forcing the moment. It also made him comfortable working with people who are not used to being on camera.
Today, Alex runs On The Moon Studio. Some projects arrive with a finished brief. Others begin as a conversation, an idea, and a deadline. He works out what needs to be made, puts together the plan and crew, leads the production, and stays involved through editing, color, and delivery. He can run a larger production or keep things small and work hands-on when that makes more sense.
His work has included projects with Apple, Google, OpenAI, Coinbase and Base, Embark Trucks, Northeastern University, Pfizer, BART and Clipper, AC Transit, Levi’s, and Matrix Fitness.
When he isn’t working, Alex is usually home in Oakland with his wife and son.
