ABOUT ME.

I’m Alex Lopez. I’m a cinematographer and producer in Oakland, and I’m often doing both jobs on the same production.

I work closely with directors, agencies, and company leadership. That might put me in months of preparation with a creative team or face-to-face with a founder throughout the shoot. I take responsibility for the cinematography while keeping the production moving around it.

For Google’s Pixel films, I produced, shot, edited, and graded the work. For Apple and Clipper, I led production and cinematography with MIG and Apple’s Global Design team. On both projects, my involvement continued through post-production, color, and final delivery.

I started making films in high school. A feature-length project I shot and edited helped get me into Brooks Institute, where I studied cinematography and trained on 35mm. After camera-department work in Los Angeles and several years in Bay Area photojournalism, my commercial filmmaking career relaunched when Jay Watson brought me onto projects featuring Davante Adams and Kevon Looney.

Today, my work moves between commercial productions, documentaries, and independent films. I also run On the Moon Studio, bringing together the crews and collaborators around each production.

I live in the Bay Area with my wife, Reba, and our son.
