Alex Lopez is a Director of Photography based in Oakland, California, working across commercial, branded, and narrative projects. His work focuses on clean, cinematic imagery in real-world environments often at the intersection of technology, infrastructure, and human stories.

He began his career in Southern California while attending the Brooks Institute of Photography, where he studied lighting, camera operation, and stage production. After moving into the industry, he worked in the camera department as a focus puller and stills photographer on feature films and television, building a strong technical foundation on set.

Before focusing fully on cinematography, Alex spent several years working as a photojournalist in the Bay Area. He covered major events including the Occupy Oakland movement and the return of marriage equality at San Francisco City Hall in 2013. His work has been published in The New York Times and The San Francisco Chronicle, earning recognition for both feature photography and photo storytelling.

Today, Alex works as a cinematographer and camera operator across a wide range of productions, from commercial campaigns to documentary-driven projects. His clients include Google, Levi’s, Pfizer, Embark Trucks, and Northeastern University. He is known for his ability to move between roles on set supporting productions through lighting, camera operation, and building efficient, reliable workflows in fast-moving environments.
